Internships

Octagon Marketing North America offers a comprehensive internship program which exposes recent graduates to the sports marketing industry and the sponsorship programs we develop and implement to achieve client objectives. Interns can look forward to gaining “real world” client experience as they take on different account team roles while working with employees from different departments at all levels of the organization.

Octagon Athletes & Personalities Division is pleased to host interns throughout the year and introduces them to the word of sports and entertainment marketing in many different capacities.  To be considered for any of our unpaid internship opportunities, students must be able to receive academic credit.

We are looking for students with diverse backgrounds and encourage students to apply who pursue degrees in areas such as Sports Management, Business, Marketing, Media/Public Relations, Journalism, Communication, Hospitality and Event Management, Finance/Accounting or Digital Design.

Summer Internship Program - The Octagon Experience

The Octagon Experience is a 10-week undergraduate summer internship program that takes place from early June to mid August.  It is a full-time, fully involved, learning-by-doing internship program for the passionate, creative and focused individual pursuing a career in the world of sports and entertainment marketing. Octagon seeks talented and driven applicants to fill internship positions in the Athletes & Personalities division, assisting in a wide range of projects and activities. The program is limited in size to maximize industry exposure for each participant, providing for a unique summer work experience.

Throughout the summer program we line up events that enrich our interns’ learning experience such as a weekly speaker series where we invite internal and external sports industry subject matter experts to share their experiences. In addition, to help our interns get exposure to different areas within the Athletes and Personalities division we divide them into teams and ask them to work throughout their internship on a company-wide business project. The different teams will present their solutions/proposals at the end of the internships in front of all employees and a panel of judges will recognize the most successful team.

We accept applications from January to the end of February each year and request applicants to submit their resume and an application project where students tell us about themselves and why they would like to be part of the Octagon Experience through the format of their choice. A select group of finalists will be invited to interview with the Octagon Experience Committee in our headquarters office in McLean, VA or via telephone (for those unable to attend a personal interview) at the end of March each year.
